Volunteers for CAFÉ ERNST:

Volunteers sought for service and development of Café ERNST

CAFÉ ERNST is run by a group of enthusiastic volunteers who serve the guests.
Museum Vestfyn is looking for more cooperative volunteers to join the café community. Could that be you?

Expectations

Being a volunteer at CAFÉ ERNST is a flexible job where you work with the staff to plan the various tasks in the museum café. As a volunteer, you become part of a community where there are opportunities to develop the café. You are not "locked in," and there are no hard feelings if there are periods when other things take priority. However, you are expected to have good hygiene, be able to regularly participate in a shift schedule, be reliable, and take the initiative to take shifts.

Being a volunteer is not just a job. There is also time for socializing and chatting with the museum's other volunteers, staff, and, of course, the visitors, who are the foundation of the museum and café's work.

Opening hours

CAFÉ ERNST has the same opening hours as the ERNST exhibition and, with a few exceptions, is open from the end of March to the end of October, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum is open on both weekdays and weekends, so you must also be prepared to work on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.

About the museum café

CAFÉ ERNST is part of Museum Vestfyn's exhibition complex ERNST at Østergade 57, Assens. In the summer of 2022, the historic premises, which previously housed the workshop of silverware manufacturer Frederik Ernst (1892-1976), were converted into a café. The café's interior design is in the same style as that found in the exhibition, Frederik Ernst's former home. At CAFÉ ERNST, you can read the daily newspaper and buy cold drinks, coffee, and sweets. The café offers both a view and access to the museum garden, Frederik Ernst's Garden, where you can enjoy your coffee when the weather permits. Visiting both CAFÉ ERNST and Frederik Ernst's Garden is free of charge. The café often provides the setting for various events, such as readings in collaboration with Assens Libraries, singing and music, creative tinkering, and fun cut-and-paste activities for children during school holidays.
