Assens Local Archive

Assens Local Archive is part of Museum Vestfyn. The archive can help you find information about Assens. The local archive contains a goldmine of information, not only about the people who have lived in Assens, but also about businesses, associations, events and much more. You could say that the local archive is the community's shared memory. The information in the local archive comes from the material we collect and store.

Maintaining our collective memory requires a great deal of work. That is why Assens Local Archives needs your help to preserve the history of Assens. If you have any material that could be of interest to future generations, the archives would be delighted to receive it. This could include old letters, diaries, photo albums, or slides. If you are unsure whether you have material that we would like to receive, please do not hesitate to contact us. If you have material that you consider too private for everyone to see, we can also agree on a clause for a shorter or longer period.

It's a good idea to bring a camera with you when you visit Assens Local Archives. That way you can take photos of old newspaper articles or pages in minutes, for example.

Assens Local Archive is run by volunteer enthusiasts who are passionate about local history and know it very well. If you want to be a part of Assens Local Archive, this is one of several opportunities you have as a volunteer at Museum Vestfyn.

You will find Assens Local Archive in Foreningshuset Gasværket, Ramsherred 52, Assens. We live on the first floor.
